ASB in the community |
||
|
Hi Resident,
Trust you are well and coping with the recent warm weather, alongside all the sport (world cup, wimbledon, cricket etc), we are spoilt for choice!
I would like to share information with you regarding Anti Social Behaviour (ASB), how to report it, and the support available. All parts of the UK experience challenges with ASB and this can have long impacting mental health issues, as well as financial, so please be aware of these issues in our community and report them so we can live in a more peaceful neighbourhood. So, what is ASB? This covers a lot and some examples are the following: Aggressive behaviour, being inconsiderate or rowdy Nuisance noise (loud music, disruptive neighbours e.g. repeat parties late at night or continuous during the day) Vehicle nuisance, including reckless use of cars, mopeds, e-scootors or off-road bikes Street drinking, vandalism, and environmental issues like fly-tipping Intimidation, aggressive begging, or targeted harassment What is Northants police doing about ASB? You may recall a message sent on this App asking for residents feedback on area ASB and the police have created a targeted plan (to view click here). Northants police “…aim is to make communities safer by stopping, preventing, and responding to ASB”
How can I report ASB? For an emergency/risk to life call 999 Report via the internet police link HERE You can call 101 You can report anonymously on the Crimestoppers website HERE Who can help me when I have been a victim of ASB? Within Northampton there is a dedicated charity to support victims of crime and they are called Voice. You can contact them on 0300 303 1965, or view their website HERE or send them an email info@voicenorthants.org
If I see repeat offences what can I do to support the police? If you feel you are not ready to speak with the police, or crimestoppers, please create a diary of events with as much information as possible. For example, date/time, description, any address/location details, any vehicle details (colour/make/registration plate) etc. This supports the police buy creating a picture of criminal activity and evidence to support their investigations.
I hope you have found this information useful.
All the best.
